Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
As Christians, sometimes we need a reminder of where are focus should be.
Who are you looking to? The world or Jesus Christ? Where does you affection and gaze lie? Where is your allegiance?
Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith, He endured the Cross and the punishment for us that we deserved and is now seated at God’s right hand! So let’s fix our eyes on Him after all He’s done so much for us and we really don’t deserve it! When we fix our eyes on Him we will be lost in a world of wonder, love, adoration and praise for all that He has done for us!
I am reminded of the lyrics to the wonderful song “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”:
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
