Man in and of himself is worthless… WORTHLESS! There is nothing good in us. All our good works are as filthy rags we are told (Isa 64:6). Without Christ, we of all men are most miserable!
But when you consider man – the handiwork of God… made in His image, redeemed by the blood of Christ and adopted into the family of God… man is of infinite worth.
Our worth is not defined by the world. It is not dependent on our wealth or status in life. It is not dependent on our achievements (whether everything you do is a failure or whether you are the smartest person around is irrelevant). It is not dependent on the type of job, car or house we have. It is not dependent on our weight, body shape or looks. Our ability does not depend on our performance.
In Psalm 62:9 men of “low degree” and men of “high degree” when put on each end of a balance are both less than vanity (empty, worthless, useless) so it really doesn’t matter whether you’re a garbage collector or a Prime Minister. Your job and status does not have a say in your worth.
We are who we are because we are created, redeemed, adopted, loved and treasured children of God! No one can touch that! We are loosed from the earthly bonds of success… the high expectations of this world. We are freed from what others think of us. What joy! What release! What freedom!
Remember that God loves you. You are worth more than the sparrows (Luke 12:7)! You are worth more than Creation because as a human being you are made in the image of God… you are the pinnacle of all creation.
